Rock Creek Ranch Campout

Description—Join us for our second forest immersion campout for our scouts and families! Scouts will explore and learn about redwood watershed ecology and the salmonid species that depend on the Smith River watershed. This campout will take place at the beautiful Rock Creek Ranch, a 115-acre property on the Smith River that is owned and managed by the Smith River Alliance. This section of the river includes both rapids and deep pools and easy river access. For more info about Rock Creek Ranch please visit smithriveralliance.org.

Special Activities—Scouts will learn about the watershed through hands-on activities, games, and wading and swimming in the river. There will be an optional rafting/kayaking trip on Sunday morning through old-growth redwoods in Jedidiah Smith State Park to experience these giant trees and learn about their benefits to health of the watershed. This section of the river is rated as a Class I-II and suitable for ages 3 and up. Older scouts may be able to do the trip in a tandem kayak!

Date and Time—June 21-23, 2019.  Scouts and families can arrive as early as 4pm Friday. Check-out by 11am Sunday.  The optional Smith River rafting trip will be 9am-noon on Sunday.
